We had an amazing stay here! The house is so homey and has everything you need. It’s situated right between the forest so it’s extremely peaceful and you can hear all the birds in the morning, but it’s also so close to the city and very convenient to get around. We came in Winter so we got the wood fire burning and it was amazing. I would recommend this place to anyone and would definitely stay again.

I was celebrating my 40th birthday and just wanted somewhere I could get away and make memories as I’m not a party person.<br/>This house was perfect. <br/>Every morning was a stroll around the house with coffee in hand listening to the wildlife.<br/>Every night was either by the fire place or star gazing. Wonderful weekend. House was super comfortable for the whole family. The fenced yard made it super safe for the dogs and thus very relaxing for us. Games room was fun. Would definitely stay here again. Margaret River and surrounds are very dog friendly.

Wonderfuly secluded home set among nature with loads of character and charm. We loved unwinding at Kookaburra with our family and dog's over Christmas and the space had something that uniquely suited everyone :) very glad we stayed here and the hosts were very prompt and accommodating.

Kookaburra Retreat was ideal for hosting our family over from the USA. Located near Margaret River, it provides easy access to show off wine farms, restaurants, beaches and other local attractions. We all loved it especially Billy our labrador/border collie who had space to sniff, play ball, & have great fun with everyone. Billy loved his daily runs & swims at Prevelly dog park & beach. Special unexpected touches like ground coffee & bags of ice, were especially appreciated. We can't wait to go back to this very special home away from home for another idyllic holiday.

Loved our stay — again!<br/>We stayed here a few years ago and were so happy to come back. The house is just as beautiful and well-equipped as we remembered. Great location, peaceful and perfect for the dogs — they loved the garden and walks around the grounds. Can’t wait to return!

Peaceful location,yet also not far from the centre of Margaret River, making everything easily accessible. Loved that it was pet friendly which we soon realised Margaret River is an amazingly dog friendly town from cafes,to pubs to restaurants. This house would be great for a family getaway, as it's so big. Way bigger than we imagined. As a couple it was bigger than we needed but we will recommend to anyone we know needing somewhere with more space. Favourite part of the house was sitting outside on the verandah and listening to all the birds and nature that surrounded us.

We had a truly relaxing and fabulous stay. The location was perfect! Minutes from Margaret River, beautiful beaches and vineyards. The house is set in a gorgeous, peaceful and private native bush setting and was both impressive and comfortable inside and out. We were spoiled for choice with many lovely spaces to relax and enjoy and were visited by kangaroos a fox and serenaded by frogs. The amenities were terrific and it was a treat to have our beloved dogs with us. The pooches had a fenced outdoor area to enjoy and roam safely and freely. The only issues that arose during our stay were dealt with quickly and politely and did not at all detract from our fabulous stay! One was a query about the fire’s flu and the other a query re an unusual smell that lingered in the very clean kitchen area? <br/>When we mentioned this, our hosts were friendly, apologetic and promptly made arrangements to sort these out!<br/>We had an awesome stay and would happily return again… and again!!!

Fantastic beautiful home in an perfect setting. Quiet and peaceful.

Wow, what a beautiful place! Check-in was at 3 PM, which gave us ample time to explore some local wineries before our arrival. Finding the retreat was easy as we drove down the long, quiet bush driveway, leading us to a charming cottage that felt like it was straight out of a Hansel and Gretel fairy tale. Upon entering, we were welcomed by the warm glow of lamps, creating an inviting atmosphere. The house is wonderfully appointed with quirky decor, and large cushions and blankets are thoughtfully placed throughout. The main area of the property is fenced, making it perfect for our dog, who could sleep inside comfortably with a bed placed near the door or in our bedroom. With three bathrooms, this retreat is ideal for a holiday with friends. My husband, a writer, found the perfect nook for his creativity. There's also a private TV room for those who prefer a quieter space to watch television. The owners have truly thought of everything, including an amazing oven that any cooking enthusiast would appreciate. One delightful challenge was deciding where to sit, as plenty of seating options are inside and around the verandah. The property is peaceful and surrounded by nature, with the soothing sounds of frogs adding to the ambience. It’s impeccably clean and comfortable, with windows so clear that you feel one with the outdoors. I can definitely see myself returning to this idyllic location a few more times! Having to go home at the end of our stay.

Beautiful home close to town centre

When we arrived to this property, we were absolutely taken back by its beauty. It exceeded our expectations. It was super isolated by beautiful nature and gorgeous wildlife, words dont do justice honestly. The big beautiful windows throughout the house and ghe unique layouy were a few of the many things we loved. Highly recommend staying here, everything was supplied even down to dishwasher tablets. We wjll definitely be returnjng with our family.

This was a great home for us during our stay in Margaret River! Lots of character and very homely. It has a well equipped kitchen for those that enjoy cooking with sharpe knives, good pots and pans and even a Nespresso machine. The showers were lovely and hot with nice pressure, and there's a beautiful deck to enjoy the birds and nature. I'm missing enjoying my morning coffee out there now I'm back to the city! The location was excellent, only a short 5 minute drive into town and some great wineries to enjoy close to home. I will say the beds are due for an upgrade and not very comfortable, this was the overall consensus between each of the rooms.

Bushland Retreat

We loved staying at the Kookaburra! Nestled in the bush just out of MargaretRiver. It was so good for our 2 and half year old and our dog to play and run around. Has a secure fence around the property.Loved sitting on the verandah watching the kangaroos at Dusk! And there were flood lights shining up the Trees at night which was amazing!! Definitely will book again!

Amazing property, beautiful location

Loved our stay here. The house was spacious and well equipped. There was an issue with the washing machine on day three but it was promptly replaced with a brand new one. Saw possums and kangaroos in the evening whilst sitting outside relaxing on the verandah. We will definitely be back at this fabulous property.

Kookaburra Retreat was perfect for our family of 6 for a weekend getaway. The property is private being surrounded by trees and so peaceful, with birds singing all day and frogs choruses at night. Yet the property is close enough to pop into Margaret River town for anything we needed.<br/>The house is large and spacious. The beds are comfortable and the bed linen is fresh and clean. Kitchen is clean and well stocked with crockery, cooking vessels and utensils etc.<br/>We loved being able to take our dogs away with us. The fenced around the house allows a safe and spacious run for dogs and children. <br/>We’d recommend this property and we hope to return sometime. Communication with Jarrod and Jenilyn was professional, friendly and helpful.

Kookaburra Lodge

We had a lovely 3 night stay at Kookaburra Lodge! We took our fur baby as well and she loved it! Lots of room for her to run. The house contained everything you would ever need and was clean and comfortable! Lovely secluded spot with ducks and ducklings on the pond and the odd kangaroo popping over to check us out! Highly recommended!

A Margaret River house with plenty of Soul.

The down-south home of the past that I remember fondly. Quirky, well built, beautifully crafted, soulful. Just like it used to be in the 80's! Quiet and very very peaceful. Loads of room and terrific places to sit on the verandah. Its also pretty close to town, which was surprising as to how quiet it was. You could even hear the ocean somewhere off in the background. Dog was allowed which was great as a last minute plan! Thanks to the hosts for being so accommodating! Bedding was more than adequate and the bathrooms were spotless. Even saw kangaroos and joeys, which was lovely in the morning at brekkie. As a side note: I left something behind and they were kind enough to help me out to get it back to me. Which was above what I would expect these days. It seemed to be no trouble at all. Five stars just for that!! I hate nit picking but if I have to be pushed…. the Wood heater in family room could do with an upgrade. But in saying that, wood was supplied and that's a rarity these days. In fact a wood heater alone can be a rarity. So swings and roundabouts hey?

Nice but I would not return there.

Property was very clean inside; bedding and towels were spotless; beds very comfortable; very well appointed: we could find anything we needed for cooking, etc; very nice settings. It was nice to arrive and find the lights turned on, however the house was freezing cold! I personally found disappointing that the chimney was set up differently (vs photos showing open fireplace). No heaters in the bathrooms; windows were smudgy; absolutely putrid smell in the inside bathroom downstairs. On previous occasions, we received local products upon arrival (bottle of wine, local jams, cheese…) which was a very nice touch from the owner.
