We have stayed at Mai Mai before and were keen to return to this peaceful, well located property in the bush just outside Margaret River. This time we were able to enjoy lying in the hammock and sitting out on the verandah to eat breakfast as when we visited in July last year it was way too cold and rainy for that. The house is very well equipped and we were touched to receive local coffee and chocolate upon our arrival this time. It is pretty cold inside the house but the bed is cosy and there are lots of blankets as well as the wood fire when it gets too chilly to sit outside. A couple of kangaroos were early morning visitors as well as numerous New Holland Honeyeaters which enjoyed using the water in the gutters as a swimming pool. We feel this house is good value for the area and would happily stay again.
Mai Mai was in a perfect location. Approx 5 mins drive to the town centre and beach, but it was beautiful and secluded. The house was clean, well equipped and had everything we needed for our stay. Great value for money!!
This is a very well located, well appointed house. Its quiet bush land setting makes it a perfect getaway for stressed out city dwellers and it is close to town, beaches and wineries. The house itself is very spacious and nicely decorated. The provision of ample firewood, fluffy white towels and books, games and jigsaws added to its appeal. If I was going to be picky, I'd say it would be nice to have some fire tools to poke the logs into the fire and a blow dryer in the bathroom but generally, all necessary implements were on hand. It was raining a lot when we were there but we would love to go back in the summer when we could make use of the outdoor area, hammock and barbecue. We had a wonderful stay, thank you.
A comfortable home with a warm, inviting feel to it. Everything needed was there. A great place in winter. Would be delightful to utilise the verandah and outdoor chiminea in summer too!
Lovely house the garden surround made you feel a world away and the wood fire was a cosy touch on the cooler evening, overall a nice experience
This house was so cosy and beautiful.
I would most certainly stay there again and recommend it to anyone.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mai Mai. The bush surrounds, lovely garden and clean warm cabin-like house made our stay relaxing and comfortable.
We had a lovely stay at Mai Mai - felt like we were in the middle of nowhere...very peaceful, surrounded by fabulous wildlife and bush.
My parents were visiting from the UK and this was the perfect place to stay to explore the area - easy to get the Margaret River town and also to the coast.
The house was spacious, clean and tidy and had everything we needed - would certainly recommend.
Accommodation was great at Mai Mai - close to Margaret River and Prevelly Beach so perfect. Had friends visiting from the UK they thought it was awesome to be close enough to attractions but also very quiet and lovely surroundings. Will be back for a visit during the year.
Indeed we had a great stay , Weather was so cold during our stay but the fire place kept us warm . The garden was planted with different type of greens and flowers ,attracted few uninvited small animals . This place is good for family retreat ande family bonding activities . We will come again.
This is a fantastic place to stay if you wish to get away from it all. Sipping a few cheeky reds while relaxing in front of the fire was a perfect way to relax. We were more than impressed with the house and it's facilities. Modern interior yet still keeps the feel of a rustic holiday home.
Will definitely be back
We had a lovely stay in the house Mai Mai. Its beautiful, set in gorgeous native gardens... we heard roos crashing through the bush at night...and watched the local wild birds in the morning. After exploring the local sights we would return to light a cosy wood fire in the evening, and to relax in tranquility. A fantastic place to stay...thank you,we shall return. P.s the Eagle sanctuary at the end of the road is definatly a must too!
Hi,we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mai Mai in Margaret River. The location is fantastic, just far enough away from town to feel like you're "away" and close enough to be handy (5 minute drive ).
It was nice to be in such rustic a location surrounded by greenery with a small farm next door. Visits from the local wildlife were a treat with kangaroos bouncing past while we ate breakfast and cheeky little blue wrens hopping around the front verandah ( a bird-watchers paradise ).
The house itself was comfortable, well appointed and laid out with everything we needed ( just a thought,an ironing board would be handy ).
All in all Mai Mai is a great house to stay at and it's a great base from which to explore the South West of W.A. and we highly recommend it.
Cheers,Steven & Denise.
We enjoyed our time at Mai Mai and found everything we required to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable.
Great house and great location for Margaret River and all of the attractions in the local area. We stayed with another couple and the house was a perfect size for us. Very quiet location and we saw lots of wildlife just on the doorstep. The veranda with the hammock was definitely the highlight of the house and was used a lot! Thank you to House Down South, we will definitely recommend you to our friends and wouldn't hesitate to stay with you again.
Thankyou for providing such a lovely house for our recent holiday in Margaret River. Mai Mai has a lovely rustic feel without missing out on all the modern conveniences. The kids loved exploring the property and spotted several rabbits and many visits from the resident blue wren!
Beautiful, comfy beds and fluffy white towels were much appreciated. The sun came out one morning and we were able to make use of that comfy swing chair and hammock on the front deck.
Altogether a fabulous house! We will definitely be back when in Margaret River next time.
Regards, Jayne McConnell and family (Melbourne)
Great house in a lovely bush setting and I would have liked to spend more time just hanging out at Mai Mai. Very central to all the attractions of the region, but it's away from the hustle of town.
We had a wonderful stay at Mai Mai, the house was spacious and clean and very comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed (and more!) and the surrounding garden was the perfect place for relaxing or having an outdoor meal. All the wildlife was lovely too. Mai Mai is the perfect spot for a relaxed break, its close enough to Margaret River and the coast to do everything you want but just offset enough to have that feeling of peace and tranquillity out in the bush. We'll definitely come to stay again :)
Hi. We found the accomodation Mai Mai fantastic. We loved how it was close to town but secluded. The house style and art and furnishings were very relaxed but stylish. We had a visit from a local dog which my two year old loved.
Only two less than positive things were the bath plug didn't seem to fit and there was hair in the bath. These were small compared to the whole experience.
We were planning when to come back again and wanted to tell everyone how great the accomodation was but didn't want to give away our secret. Have stayed at many places in Margaret River this was our favourite.
We also forgot our travel cot and Justine put us onto Maria who hires out baby supplies. For $30 she dropped ff and picked up and hired for to nights a travel cot. We were highly impressed with the service.
Thanks for a great stay !!
Thankyou justine for our stay at mai mai, very clean neat and tidy, best of all so quiet,we all loved the beautiful blue wrens that visited us everyday, and the kids also loved the visit everyday from the neighbours red dog lol lol,we will be back again soon, cheers grimes family. xx ;]
We had a pleasant stay in January 2013. House was very clean, well equipped and obviously looked after. Location was excellent as well. One thing to be aware of is the house doesn't have air conditioning but it wasn't a problem for us as the weather was mild.
The house is very comfortable and homely, and is set in pretty surrounds, with a lovely garden and surrounding bushland. You can while away the hours watching the many beautiful birds that flock to the garden or snoozing in the hammock.
Margaret River town is just a short drive away, but you feel very secluded, so Mai Mai offers the best of both worlds. Three great wineries (Leeuwin, Xanadu and Voyager) are very close by. We had lunch at Leeuwin, highly recommended.
There was an issue with the water pump during our stay, but this was dealt with promptly and complementary wine provided for the inconvenience, showing attentive customer service.
All in all a very nice property in a wonderful location. We had an enjoyable stay and wíshed we could have stayed longer! We would definitely recommnend Mai Mai to people as a great 'home from home' in the region.
We stayed from 17-20 october and had a wonderful time. What was provided for use to use as Guests was Exceptional. All the tools in the Kitchen were wonderful to have on hand, so much better than Holiday Parks etc which give the bare minimum. I think the back Laundry Door needs to be looked as as we found it hard to lock, (House Down South: this door will be attended to asap) but other than that I think it really was perfect!
Very comfortable and secluded house. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back again!
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Comfortable and warm cottage that met all our needs with isolalation but not too isolated, not to mention the wildlife.
Thanks for letting us stay at Mai Mai, the house was great, really clean and well equipped with everything we needed. We especially loved the hammock and porch chair outside, and the fire inside. We had a great, relaxing weekend and will definitely be back!
Thanks for all your help!
See you again soon.
Beautiful & well presented little cottage was perfect for our family and loved the space & quiet on the 5 acres.
Would defiantly recommend & be back,
My family and I recently stayed at Mai Mai in Margaret River. The property was fantastic. A beautiful bush setting and my kids and I loved the fact that they could run freely around the grounds. Close to the town centre and it has everything you could want to make your stay a great one. Owners were fantastic to deal with and we will be back for sure. Thank you for making our break a happy and memorable one.
We spent three days at Mai Mai and it was great. Quiet, clean and relaxing.
It is also quite convenient to travel downtown or to other attractions.
Great communication from the people at House Down South throughout the rental process made this a great holiday for all of us.
Mai Mai was very easy to find, and close to Margaret River.
The house was clean and very comfortable for our group of three, and so quiet!! The little birds flying in and out of the trees near the kitchen table were a real treat!
The hammock looked very comfy, but we were working and didn't have time to chill on the balcony.
All in all a comfortable and value for money location.
