Property Reviews

July 2017
Our stay was excellent Family of 4 (2 small kids), fantastic log fire inside and oil heaters throughout the house that kept the bedrooms warm We loved the fact that all the wood/kindle is prepared for the fire,
Lovely handmade soap towels and linen are provided which is always a bonus (at no extra cost may I add!) Gumboots in laundry were handy when exploring the garden in wet winter months especially as Hubby and I forgot ours! Laundry facilities came in handy and loved picking fresh oranges from the tree the whole family enjoyed eating them.
Will definitely come again & loved the whole setting and personal touches very homely and warm Thank you

Excellent property!
A very spacious beautiful house in lovely green surroundings. Our children enjoyed playing in the large playroom and it was nice to have the fire going in the evening. Kept us all cosy and warm! Thank you, we had a great time.

Lovely comfortable well-equipped house with fantastic grounds. Not as modern as some but has everything you need. We spent 5 nights here with 2 young children plus their Gran and everyone loved it. So much outside space to enjoy. The kids were kept busy for hours exploring the nooks and crannies and finding hidden garden seats and statues scattered amongst the gums. Close to Margaret River town, but far enough away to feel truly rural. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks.

This house is big and well equiped. It has two big courtyards with lemon tree, orange tree and various flower plants.  My kids and I love walking around the courtyards. We come from Singapore and enjoy such space and surroundings.  It is also a pleasant surprise to see Yahava coffee powder being provided as we are a fan of it.

This is value for money.  I will not hesitate to recommend.

It will be even better if the check in time can be earlier but I understand the time needed to clean and get ready such a big house.

We had a lovely time at Lemon Gum. It is a large property, with lots of plants, flowers and well laid out gardens. The house itself is a delight, well furnished and has all facilities for a fabulous holiday. We recommend it highly and plan to revisit in future.

What a wonderful and peaceful getaway we experienced during our three night stay at Lemongum. We were a group of two couples with two children between us and the house was absolutely perfect for our needs and exactly what we were looking for. The house was very homely and comfortable and we found everything we needed, including firewood for both the indoor and outdoor fireplaces to keep us warm and cosy at night. There was so much space and coming from Perth city, the tranquility of the bush surrounds was not lost on us. The kids loved running around the gardens, exploring the fruit trees and engaging (chasing) the local wildlife. The location was perfect for access to the town centre, the beach, the river and local tourist attractions. The whole process from booking to departure was easy and there is no doubt we'll be back! We plan on making this our regular holiday location, but for much longer next time. Thank you to the team at House Down South for a wonderful and memorable mini break. Ben, Robbie & co.

We absolutely loved our 8 nights at the Lemongum.  We were looking for a location that was close to town, but had some property around it so we could enjoy some wildlife and tranquility and this was perfect.  We were very impressed with the cleanliness on arrival, especially considering the size of the house and property.  The agent was prompt on getting the information to us regarding keys on the day of arrival and when we discovered some burned out lightbulbs, was very quick to get this sorted out.  This property is about a 5 minute drive to Margaret River and about a 7 minute drive to Surfers' Point, where we enjoyed a canoe ride down Margaret River one day and watched the sun go down every evening.  We would have breakfast on the front patio and watch the kangaroos, rabbits and a large variety of birds.  Anyone who is a birder would enjoy this location.  We felt at home immediately with all the comfy furniture and ate at home a lot because we so enjoyed being there.

Lemongum was a great place to stay. Lots of room, great outside areas for entertaining and enjoying the surrounding bush and local wildlife. We stayed here several years ago and it was pleasing to see that the kitchen appliances had been upgraded and the standard of presentation had improved. Would definitely recommend this property for a family or several couples.

We had a wonderful stay at lemongum. On the administrative side, everything was dealt with promptly and without fuss. The house itself had everything we needed and more, games, outdoor sporting equipment, 2 living areas and a great outdoor space for relaxing in. Our daily visits from the local kangaroos were very welcome and with Margaret River township a 5min drive away, we had everything we needed within reach for a great holiday. Thank you Justine - we will recommend lemon gum to all and would love to stay again next time we visit.

My family enjoyed our vacation at Lemongum. It is a beautiful piece of property and the location was perfect for us, right near the Margaret River town. There were kangaroos in the yard every morning when we woke up and every night when we went to bed. My father, an avid birdwatcher, also spotted a number of unique birds, including a kookaburra. The home and it's furnishings are a little dated, but that didn't have any impact on our experience. A great trip!

We had a great time! Everything you needed and we loved the 70s/80s vibe haha! Outdoor area is great! We spent most of our time out there! We would definitely book again. Had a bit of trouble getting radio reception but all in all a great value getaway in a great location! Beautiful gardens and kangaroos and rabbits pretty much at the door!

July 2014
We had a lovely time at Lemongum. The house is so comfortable, spacious and well-equipped (so many appliances!). We stayed with our 2-year-old grandson and had no trouble keeping him occupied and happy even though the weather was a bit wet and we couldn't make use of the garden. The garden is great, by the way - loads of space and interesting to wander round. It's also a nice walk to Margaret River town: not too long, but a good bit of exercise - especially if you're pushing a stroller full of toddler! It was a very enjoyable stay and made the trip to Margaret River such a lovely holiday. Thanks!

September 2013
We loved our stay at Lemongum, the house was the best equipped holiday rental we have ever stayed in, and it was perfect for us (family of 4) and we would love to stay again. The linen and towels were great quality, and there were plenty of games and even bedtime reading for the kids. My favourite part was the garden, it is just stunning, and we saw kangaroos passing through, and lots of beautiful bird life, even a couple of the blue wrens. Highly recommended.

July 2013
House was excellent! Complimentary coffee was delicious and we spent a fun few evenings playing different board games accompanied by some fantastic Margaret River wine. We'll be sure to stay again if in the area.

March 2013
Great outdoor space for entertaining including multiple bbqs and seating areas, nice gardens.  House was a lot bigger than i was expecting.

December 2012
Had a lovely week at Lemongum and no complaints at all.  We managed to get the week when it was very hot and with no air conditioning was a bit worried. The house was supplied with ample fans so the lack of air conditioning wasn't a problem at all.

Everything worked in the house as it should and beds were very comfortable.  We had 4 adults and 1 teenager so ample beds with a spare bed left over.  We even managed a game of scrabble from the many games supplied.

Was lovely to be able to see the Kangaroos every night and the beautiful blue wrens.

The house is about 3 kms from Margaret River so at the busy time of the year when we stayed it was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle.

Would certainly recommend this house to family and friends.

October 2012
The house was neat and tidy, comfortable, well equiped and everything worked as it should. The location was ideal, not too close to the centre of town but close enough so that it wasn't a major journey to go and have a meal or do some shopping. The surroundings were very peaceful and picturesque.

Would definately stay again.

July 2012
We had a lovely week at Lemongum. The house was clean and well-equipped. Our children loved the big games room and the wonderful garden that really was a little boy's paradise! I loved being able to walk to the fudge factory shop in less than half an hour!
I would love to revisit in the warmer months to take full advantage of the great outdoor area. A great holiday house.
Thoroughly recommended!

Nice and cosy house. A bit oversized for our group of four, but we really loved it. Very well equipped with tv, heater, DVD player, etc. Kitchen is also all stocked with your cookings needs. House is clean and very comfortable. Located about few kilometers from town, it's very quiet, good place to relax.
Big garden with lemon and oranges trees.  Few kangaroos even hopped in your garden. Recommended for family and groups, it's a home away from home.

March 2012
We loved Lemongum!  The house was on the most beautiful piece of land with gorgeous gardens and on our first morning there we saw a rabbit, three kangaroos, parrots and a kookaburra.

As we're now living in Singapore and can't appreciate the outdoors so much due to the heat, it was just magical to see all that wildlife and very exciting for our 16 month old.  My husband and I were in fact, just as excited as he was to see the kangaroos and to continue to see them during our stay.

We were amazed (and very appreciative!) that the pantry was stocked with more than just the usual tea and coffee  -  tomato sauce, olive oil, vegemite (even washing powder in the laundry!) and really thought that the system of replacing something if it runs out made so much sense.  Seems fairly obvious but this is the first holiday house we have stayed in that has done that and it was great.

I don't think the photos on the website do the house justice.  It is an older style home and I was a bit uncertain about it after looking at the kitchen and dining room photos but the house was much, much better than expected and was larger and more spacious than it looks in the photos.  Not only that, the older-style really fitted in with it's surroundings and we were so happy to be staying there rather than in some of the ultra-modern properties surrounding it.  The only thing the house didn't have was a colander!

We had the most fantastic holiday and would definitely stay again.  We really hope to be back one day soon.

We had a very pleasant stay at Lemongum and would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone wishing to stay in Margaret River.

Lemongum was clean and had everything you could possibly need.

The grounds were fantastic and we enjoyed watching all the birds and wildlife which entered the garden.

We are having American visits over in early 2012 and will definately book Lemongum again, if vacant.
Thank you again
